Why did we establish the Toimistomummola?
We want to create jobs and bring more warmth and presence to workplaces. Let us tell you why it is so important to us!
Work itself brings meaning and purpose – and the indulgence, fun, and joy of pampering loved ones made possible by this little extra income doesn’t diminish it in the slightest! The opportunity to work flexibly and just the right amount even in retirement is something that should definitely be more widely available. We decided to start from here!
Läsnäolo, presence, means being present in the moment, with the people around you. It arises from encounters, interest, joy, and empathy. In contrast to remote work, there’s a need for human interaction. Retirees long to belong to a community, and employees need good reasons to come to the office to meet people. We believe it was worth combining these two things!
And finally, we want to incorporate work, “läsnäolo” and the warmth of grandma’s house into our business offering to you. Unhurried, intergenerational encounters bring kindness and thoughtfulness to everyday life, while quietly conveying the knowledge and trust that things have a way of working out. Even though work life sometimes feels hectic and crazy, Grandma and Grandpa can tell us that things have always found their way. Their experience can have a calming effect on us!
There’s hustle and bustle at Mummola
We take care of our grandmas and grandpas. In addition to belonging to their office community, the Grannies are part of our very own Mummola, which regularly brings the granny gang together. Although the work of an Office Grandma is already pleasantly enjoyable in itself, life should be more than just work. That’s why we sometimes brew coffee together, go out into nature or for lunch, attend dance classes or art exhibitions, learn flower arranging or Italian cooking together – whatever we come up with!

Questions and answers
Grannies can do a variety of tasks – we always review the tasks specifically for each customer, so feel free to suggest anything! Would you like to have someone to take care of the coffee station, the dishwasher (or more precisely, the sink full of mugs), the empty drink cabinet, or the fridge bursting with last month’s lunches? Everyday happiness can come from simple things – a shared breakfast, the smell of fresh cinnamon buns, a beautiful bouquet of flowers – or simply from having a familiar, warm-hearted person in the office asking how everyone’s doing.
Let’s brainstorm together on what tasks would bring joy and ease to your workplace. Tell us what you need, and we’ll suggest how we could help! So far, we’ve answered wishes like guided stretch breaks (with a grandma who has a background in physiotherapy), proofreading support (a grandma with a career in journalism), and cultural understanding for an international team (a grandma who once worked as a flight attendant). We have retired professionals from all kinds of backgrounds – and of course, with age comes a wealth of skills in all sorts of areas!
Being a Granny is above all a state of mind! Although the service is called “Office Granny”, we have Grandpas and Granddads just as we have Grannies and Grandmas! Depending on your working language, we can send you a Workplace Granny, Office Granddad, Toimistomummo, Toimistovaari, Kontorsmormor of Kontorsfarfar!
We personally interview and carefully select the grandmas and grandpas who join our community, and we spend time with them regularly. That means we know them well and can choose the person who best matches your wishes. Of course, you’ll have a say in the final decision too!
We always try to find someone located nearby, so the trip to your office is as easy and pleasant as possible. Sometimes there are special requirements – for example, in international companies, English skills may be important. It’s our job to make sure we find the perfect match!
We at Toimistomummola are responsible for the Granny! Each Granny and Grandpa has their own Granny Coordinator who reviews the tasks and provides orientation for the role. Both grannies and clients can always call the Granny Coordinator!
If you wish to end the relationship with the Granny (sniff!), our notice period is three months. This gives us enough time to find a new office for the granny!
No worries, the absence will be compensated on another day or credited to the invoice.
Currently, we have clients in Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa, Turku, Tampere and Oulu, but we are happy to expand to new cities (in Finland). Just send us a message!
Mummola (“Grandma’s place”) is the community of Office Grannies and Grandpas! We select the most suitable applicants for Mummola based on applications and interviews. Through Mummola, we offer new job opportunities and organize enjoyable activities for the whole group!
